Amanda Brugel

(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on the part of Montreal known as the West Island. Many people unfamiliar with the word often think that it's a separate island somewhere to the west of Montreal but in fact the West Island is home to all things from Lachine west to the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is often called her birthplace. However, she only stayed there for a short period of time. Brugel was raised on Courtice just outside Oshawa in Ontario. The first goal she had was to become an expert dancer. However, a growth increase caused her to surpass her dance partners she had. In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I am 6 feet, 1 inch." As soon as I outgrew my male counterparts then I stopped. Many dancers make the transition into acting. In the case of the Brugel family, it was their drama teacher who nudged her to go in this direction. Her teacher invited her to audition for a part in a school production. She auditioned and eventually got the role of the main character of Anne of Green Gables. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. For the past twenty years, her roles on TV and the big screen have been numerous. The character of Rita from the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel was the only Canadian cast member in Season 1 of the series, and not seen much.
